Burt Glinn
“I think that what you've got to do is discover
the essential truth of the situation, and have a point
of view about it.”
Born in 1925 in Pittsburgh, PA, Burt
Glinn studied literature
at Harvard University whilst editing and photographing
for the Harvard Crimson college newspaper. After graduating
from Harvard, Glinn worked as a photographer for Life
magazine before becoming a freelancer. In 1951, Glinn
became an associate member (and one of the first Americans)
of Magnum, the internationally recognized photographers’ cooperative.
For the next fifty years, Burt would prove to be prolific
in producing highly original personal perspectives of
many of the people and events that shaped the second
half of the 20th century.
